An important facet of Mark Alexander is to create textiles that have a provenance and a lived-in, vintage quality. Artisan captures the essence of the Japanese principle ‘Wabi -Sabi’, described as ‘the beauty of age and imperfection, as though created by nature.’ Specialist fibre dyed linen has been used to create fully bespoke yarns that give a seemingly random effect to this collection of upholstery weaves. A painterly stripe, a subtle check and a beautiful plain that looks almost antique, combine to offer a collection that has a strong ‘hand-woven’ appearance.
